Submission guidelines

Kiftsgate Press is open to new authors, whatever your genre. We read every correct submission ourselves — please follow these guidelines so we can give your work the attention it deserves.

  1. Email us at hello [at] kiftsgatepress [dot] com with the subject line SUBMISSION: <name of author>.
  2. In the body of your email, tell us who you are, the genre you write in, and give a brief description of the book you are submitting.
  3. Attach the opening of your novel — the first 3,000–5,000 words.
  4. Attach a synopsis of the whole novel, including spoilers, between 450 and 550 words.
  5. Formatting. Both attachments in 12pt Times New Roman, 1.5 or double spaced.
